The Yorktown Sisters. (to the tune of Battle Raven)

O' fly our Avengers and our Divers and our lovely Cats too,
They shall visit on our foes what they are truly due.
In the roar of the Dauntless you shall hear our battle cry,
Three sisters have come to war and to make the enemy die.

I was born first, I'm the oldest, I'm the senior of us three;
Truth be told I set the mold for all that followed me.
I will fight unto my last, ask no quarter of me;
I am Yorktown, born to fight in the air and on the sea.

O' fly our Avengers and our Divers and our lovely Cats too,
They shall visit on our foes what they are truly due.
In the roar of the Dauntless you shall hear our battle cry,
Three sisters have come to war and to make the enemy die.

I'm the middle of my sisters, I have many names you see;
for Fate both blessed and cursed me with a mighty destiny!
Doing my bit I set the bar, to which all others rise,
I'm the Grey Ghost, I am Lucky, I am Enterprise.

O' fly our Avengers and our Divers and our lovely Cats too,
They shall visit on our foes what they are truly due.
In the roar of the Dauntless you shall hear our battle cry,
Three sisters have come to war and to make the enemy die.

I'm the youngest of my sisters, I'm the boldest of us three.
In battle I'm audacious, the most daring you'll ever see.
My reach is longest, sting is strongest, I hit hardest of us all,
I am Hornet and the foe I will surely maul.

O' fly our Avengers and our Divers and our lovely Cats too,
They shall visit on our foes what they are truly due.
In the roar of the Dauntless you shall hear our battle cry,
The Yorktown sisters have come to war and to make the enemy die.

Something different, I was asked about a song about the Yorktown sisters...(KanColle/November/Azur Lane Shipgirl fandom)

it's NOT eazy to squeeze in so much history in one stanza.

Yorktown CV-5: Went down fighting at Midway after being mauled badly at Coral Sea, she NEVER said die. Yorktown became the basis for following US Carrier designs. She was hardy, flexible, her fighting spirit never faltered. She was sunk while under tow trying to get back to Pearl Harbor to be repaired.

Enterprise CV-6: Dear Trekkies (and I am one)...the name Enterprise was awesome BEFORE TV! She (and at one point Hornet) were the ONLY carriers we had in the Pacific... she held the line alone, fought hard, escaped many close calls and hit back decisively in the critical Gudalcanal campaign, the Soloman Islands, Gilberts Islands. From beginning to end she was either fighting of getting ready to fight. She was the most decorated US Fighting ship of World War 2. She was the first night action carrier and the first carrier to strike back in the Pacific. She was nick named 'Big-E', 'Lucky-E' and called by her nemesis The Imperial Japanese Navy; 'The Grey Ghost' as they thought they got her 3 times, and three times she came back to 'haunt' them.

Hornet CV-8: Brash and hard fighting Hornet was the carrier that launched the Doolittle raid, audacious by any measure. Her rep in the navy was that she was a little 'flamboyant' and a bit rash. She like her middle sister at one time was the only carrier for the US Navy in the Pacific and at the Battle of Santa Cruz she fought hard before going down after multiple attempts to scuttle. Her Doolittle strike changed the course of the war.

I found my way here! It's such a nice song and I'd definitely try to sing it (though it sounds hard)
